Joan Brack Adult Learning Center

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION/SERVICES

Located within the MetroWest Career Center, the Joan Brack Adult Learning Center (JBALC) provides free GED classes for adults who do not have a high school diploma.  Classes are designed to help students prepare to take the GED exam.  The JBALC is a supportive, educational community that is interactive, fosters cooperative learning and is individualized around the learning style of each student.  Classes are offered Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Open to adults who do not have a high school diploma.  Prospective students must fill out an application and take a placement test.  Class space is limited and there may be a waiting list.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Call (508) 620-2632 for information about opportunities to volunteer as a tutor.  Tutors must have the patience to work with students who come from a variety of backgrounds and may have learning diabilities.  Familiarity with the GED is helpful.  Tutors are generally needed for the subject areas of: Math and Writing.

Financial donations are greatly appreciated and may be made to SMOC - Joan Brack Adult Learning Center.
